Are you leading from flow or by force?

I’m a big believer in knowing your personal core values—two to five words unique to you that represent the principles you want to live and lead by.
Core values quietly shape everything: our preferences, our decisions, even our frustrations when they can’t be expressed. When we live in alignment with them, we find more flow in our day, work, and relationships. Decisions become clearer because they come from the inside out.
The challenge? We live in an age of constant noise. Every day, we’re bombarded with content that looks good, promises results, or appeals to quick fixes. Without realizing it, we start chasing things that pull us away from our core values.
One client recently summarized it perfectly: What the modern world feeds me removes me from flow. It makes me force ideas on myself that don’t fit—and that’s where my frustration starts.
That insight gave me chills.
Here’s the truth: growth can feel uncomfortable, but growth aligned with your values creates energy. Growth that forces you to be someone you’re not, drains it.
Think of it like a Venn diagram:
One circle is your core values.
The other is what you’re saying “yes” to.
When the circles overlap, you’re in flow. When they don’t, you’re in force—and frustration follows.
So here are two questions worth asking yourself this week:
Where in my life, leadership, or work am I forcing instead of flowing?
What characteristics show up when I’m at my best and fully in flow?
If you’re not sure how to answer, that’s exactly where coaching can help. Let’s have a conversation about uncovering your core values and creating more alignment in your leadership and life.
Yes, seriously...we can have a one-time coaching call on the house. It's just you and me, in a safe, trusted space, accelerating your path through the challenges you face.
