The best way to reinforce training

Did you know that clicking through an online course, listening to a podcast, or reading a book isn't going to make much of a difference in your behavior?

That's right. There's something called the "Ebbinghaus forgetting curve" that demonstrates how quickly we forget information we take in if we don't take some sort of action to retain it.

The statistics shouldn't surprise you. We forget 50% of the information within an hour of taking it in. By 24 hours, we've forgotten around 70%.

However, there are strategies we can employ to ensure information translates to lifelong transformation, and two of these are:

  1. Blended learning - In whatever subject matter you want to learn, make sure you're taking in information in more than one way. It could be any combination of classroom-style learning, note-taking, quizzes or assessments, and opportunities for Q&A.

  2. Getting people in groups - Whether it's group projects or discussion, the social element of learning helps to solidify the information. When views are shared and others are modeling how they learn, we are more inclined to cement the information at hand.

These two points are exactly why my LeadUp cohort is so impactful. It's a blended leadership training and coaching approach for established and emerging leaders to uplevel their leadership acumen, with an emphasis on the application of the material presented.

I've seen success with this program specifically in two areas:

  • Small businesses wanting to develop a mid-level of management.

  • Social workers & non-profits that are typically consumed by the day-to-day demands of the job, where leadership skill transfer often gets overlooked.

If you need to raise up leaders within your organization and don't have the bandwidth to facilitate that yourself, we should talk. Click the link below to schedule a call and mention you're interested in LeadUp.

I look forward to supporting you and your leadership endeavors!
